Although Aging Matters is a psychological services company, we also have strong expertise in management consulting. Our business director - Joel Mausner, PhD - is a highly experienced leadership and organization consultant who has worked with a wide range of corporate, non-profit and healthcare organizations via his coaching/consulting firm - Workplace Psychology.
Aging Matters offers a variety of consulting services that are relevant for senior care facilities and senior living residences, and especially for those which aspire to be or become among the best in class.
Some of our key management consulting services are:
Coaching for Senior Leaders
Developing Middle Managers
Training Line-Staff Supervisors
Building a Culture of Teamwork
Organizational Problem-Solving
Coaching for Senior Leaders: The Executive Directors of senior care facilities (and other senior leaders) sometimes need someone to talk to. A customized executive coaching experience can help them to leverage their strengths, while also strengthening less developed skill sets. This coaching process sometimes includes a 360 assessment, and it also typically includes advice about talent management and team development. Facilitation of group executive retreats and customized leadership learning workshops are also offered.
Building a Culture of Teamwork: Since collaborative work is an especially vital driver of service excellence and quality of care for senior care facilities and senior living residences, a team-focused approach to training and development can be especially beneficial. A team building program (consisting of training events, peer learning groups, team leader coaching) can be offered to any part of the organization - from caregiver to administrative teams, and from service to functional units, beginning with line-staff and up to the senior executive team.
Developing Middle Managers: We offer a series of training workshops on key management issues - such as: effective communication, employee engagement, conflict handling, performance supervision, time & priority management, role accountability, teamwork effectiveness, change leadership, etc. Manager "peer learning groups" and/or "action learning projects" can provide opportunities to practice and master the workshop learning. And brief coaching can also be provided for designated managers.
Organizational Problem-Solving: The systems or defined work processes of an organization may sometimes create unnecessary obstacles for staff to actually excel at their work. We can help you diagnosis these organization roadblocks or process problems, and, if indicated, help you to fix them. We do this by facilitating a collaborative problem-solving initiative that enables facility leaders to work with the affected staff to sort through the complexities, recommend constructive ideas and implement workable solutions.
Training Line-Staff Supervisors: The effectiveness of direct line staff (whether caregiving or administrative) is probably most affected by the quality of performance supervision that they receive. Effective performance supervision involves a process of ongoing oversight, constructive feedback, and supportive coaching advice. Providing the managers of direct line staff with skill-building workshops and/or peer discussion forums on performance supervision can significantly enhance effective staff performance.
